An allegation of sexual assault has been made against a police officer following a raid on an illegal rave.

Wiltshire Police said the claim involved one of its staff and was connected to the eight-hour event in Swindon on Sunday.

The allegation has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC), the force said.

A spokesman confirmed the commission had been notified and said it would assess the claim.

Several hundred people attended the rave at the River Ray industrial estate, which saw bricks and missiles thrown at police.

One officer was taken to hospital while another three - including a dog handler - were treated at the scene.
