Three men held after Elvington cash machine theft

Three men have been arrested after a cash machine containing more than £20,000 was stolen in North Yorkshire.

Police were called after the machine was stolen from a garage in Elvington at about 0425 BST on Friday.

Officers, including a dog unit, followed two vehicles they thought were suspicious.

Two men from York, aged 22 and 23, and a 26-year-old man from Easingwold remain in police custody. The cash machine was recovered.

Police also recovered a panel van and a Citroen Saxo.

Witnesses or anyone with information are urged to contact police.
