Victim of fatal A1 crash in North Yorkshire named
A 23-year-old man who died after a collision with a van on the A1 in North Yorkshire, has been identified.
James Richard Ashdown, 23, from Dishforth, died three days after being airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary with critical injuries on 26 August.
The accident happened between junctions 48 and 47 on the southbound carriageway.
A man has been charged with dangerous driving and has been remanded in custody.
Three others were injured in the collision - a 34-year-old man from Manchester, a 21-year-old woman and a seven-month-old baby. All were treated in hospital and have since been released.
They were passengers in the Suzuki Swift which Mr Ashdown was driving.
The inquest into Mr Ashdown's death was opened and adjourned on Thursday.
Police are still appealing for witnesses to the crash.
