Arrests after Pickering girl dies in A170 car crash

Two teenagers have been arrested after a 15-year-old girl was killed in a car crash in North Yorkshire.

The girl, from Pickering, was a passenger in a Vauxhall Corsa which overturned after coming off the A170 at Snainton at about 1830 GMT on Saturday.

She was pronounced dead at the scene, police said, and the 18-year-old driver was arrested after he was treated for minor injuries.

Another 18-year-old who was driving a Ford Fiesta was arrested at the scene.

Both men are also from Pickering, North Yorkshire Police said.

Traffic Sgt Neil Campbell said: "It is vital to the investigation that anyone who witnessed the collision gets in touch with the police immediately.

"I am particularly interested in speaking to anyone who saw the blue Vauxhall Corsa prior to the collision or a white Ford Fiesta which was travelling in company with it."
