Boy airlifted to hospital after North Yorkshire crash

A teenager was airlifted to hospital and remains in a critical condition following a car crash on a North Yorkshire village road.

The head-on collision happened on an unclassified road connecting the B6268 to the village of Well at 0755 GMT.

The 17-year-old driver of the Vauxhall Corsa suffered multiple serious injuries and was taken by air ambulance to James Cook Hospital, Middlesbrough.

The driver of the white Iveco panel van suffered minor injuries.

Both the man and teenager are thought to be local to the area.

The road was closed for six hours.

Police are appealing for witnesses.
