Forty tonnes of scaffolding stolen from Scarborough

Forty tonnes of scaffolding has been stolen from a town centre hotel in North Yorkshire, police have said.

Scarborough Police said more than 200 poles were taken from the Royal Hotel on Nicholas Street between 1 and 13 April.

The poles were up to 12ft (3.65m) long and would have taken about 20 minutes to load into a van, police said.

It was also reported the thieves broke through a padlock to access the poles, which had white and pink paint on them.
