Man dies and elderly injured in Yorkshire bus crash

A motorist was killed when a car and a coach collided on a road in North Yorkshire.

The crash happened on the A19 Easingwold bypass at about 1730 BST on Monday and the road was closed until midnight as police investigated.

The driver of the Seat car, a 50-year-old man from York, died in the collision.

A number of the 40 mainly elderly people on the National Express coach were injured.

The coach driver and three passengers were treated by paramedics as "walking wounded".

The coach had been travelling northbound to the Newcastle area, and the blue Seat was travelling in the opposite direction towards York.
