Safety guide for motorbike riders in North Yorkshire
Bikers taking to the roads in North Yorkshire are being encouraged to make use of a safety guide produced by police in an effort to cut the number of fatal crashes in the county.
Officers said that in the past six years 71 bikers had died in accidents on the county's roads and 541 people had been seriously injured.
The guide highlights accident sites and difficult sections of roads.
Riders are being encouraged view the guide on the police website.
Along with tips on bike maintenance and safe riding techniques, the guide also points bikers towards a "first on scene" course to enable them to provide the necessary basic life support to accident victims.
Maps in the guide feature some of the popular riding routes and have warning symbols to show accident blackspots, difficult bends and restricted-view sections of roads.
