Dog beach ban begins at North Yorkshire resorts

Seasonal restrictions on taking dogs on to beaches in parts of North Yorkshire have come into effect.

Officials at Scarborough Borough Council said parts of beaches most popular with tourists were off limits to dogs and would remain so until 30 September.

Parts of beaches at Filey, Scarborough's north and south beaches, Whitby and Sandsend were included.

The council said dog wardens would be patrolling to enforce the ban.

More information about the bans can be found on the council's website.
