York terrace evacuated over "severe fire"
Residents in a row of five terraced houses in York have been forced to leave their homes after a fire swept along the street.
About 30 firefighters were called to tackle the "severe fire" in Bramham Avenue, Acomb on Friday night, North Yorkshire Fire Service said.
The fire started in the roof of a house and was spreading to other properties when fire crews arrived.
Three houses have been left seriously damaged, the fire service said.
Nobody was injured in the incident but none of the residents was allowed to stay in any of the houses in the terrace on Friday night.
Fire investigation officers were due to return to the scene on Saturday to establish the cause of the fire.
They were waiting for surveyors to declare the buildings safe enough to enter.
