Snaith motorcyclist dies in Birkin collision

A motorcyclist has died and a car driver is seriously injured following a collision on a North Yorkshire road.

North Yorkshire Police said black Honda bike and Ford Focus collided on Birkin Lane, Birkin on Sunday at about 1720 BST.

The biker, 44, from Snaith, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The motorist, 18, from Normanton, West Yorkshire, was taken to Leeds General Infirmary and is "fighting for his life", police said.

Two other people who were passengers in the car were taken to Pinderfields Hospital with minor injuries.

The vehicles were travelling in opposite directions when they collided.
