Dog attacks boys during Clifton picnic

A three-year-old boy suffered dog bites to his chest and shoulder seconds after his older brother had been attacked by the animal during a family picnic.

North Yorkshire Police said the family had been having a picnic close to Clifton Bridge in York.

The dog, described as a brown Staffordshire Bull terrier/Labrador cross or an American Staffordshire terrier struck on 26 June.

Now police want to speak to the animal's owners about the incident.

Pc Wesley Cooper said: "I would like to thank the members of the public who have come forward with information to assist the inquiry so far.

"Unfortunately, we have not been able to trace the owner.

"A small child and his family have been deeply upset by this incident and I am issuing a renewed appeal for information."
