Suspected stolen car involved in crash on A64 near York

A suspected stolen vehicle was involved in a three-car crash in North Yorkshire earlier.

The collision happened on the A64 near York, on the westbound carriageway.

One man is now being watched by police at the York District Hospital, suspected of stealing a grey Vauxhall Insignia involved in the crash.

His injuries are not believed to be life threatening. Another local man is being treated for a fractured wrist and a broken foot at the same hospital.

The third driver, a woman from South Yorkshire, walked away from the crash unscathed.

North Yorkshire police confirmed they had heard about the suspected stolen Vauxhall before the incident, but would not comment further.

One lane of the eastbound carriageway and both lanes of the westbound carriageway of the A64 remain closed in the area.
