Run for All: Thousands in York fundraising run
More than 5,000 people have taken part in the third York Jane Tomlinson run.
The 10km (6.2m) run is held in honour of Jane Tomlinson, who raised almost £2m for charity before dying from cancer in 2007.
The event began at 09:00 BST at the Knavesmire and was started by BBC Look North presenter, Harry Gration.
Mrs Tomlinson's family continued her fundraising efforts after her death and similar runs are held in Leeds and Hull.
More than 20,000 people have taken part in the Run For All series in Hull, Leeds and York in 2011.
Her husband, Mike Tomlinson, said: "It's another record field for the York 10k.
"Without doubt it's one of the most scenic city runs in the country and showcases the city at its best.
"Hopefully the fundraising total will mirror the entries and hit new heights."
