York races: Sixty arrested during Ebor meeting
Police said 60 people were arrested in York over the weekend following the Ebor race meeting.
North Yorkshire Police said the figure was higher than usual but not all the arrests involved racegoers.
The four-day race meeting included a Saturday for the first time this year and attracted more than 90,000 spectators.
York racecourse said it had worked closely with police and only one arrest had taken place at the racecourse
North Yorkshire Police said it had deployed additional officers throughout the meeting.
Supt Lisa Winward, police commander for the festival, had warned racegoers that anti-social behaviour fuelled by alcohol would not be tolerated.
North Yorkshire Police said a total of 29 arrests were made on Friday, 19 August and a further 31 on Saturday, 20 August.
Officers said they had also dealt with a couple of minor fights at pubs and clubs which did not result in any arrests.
