Burglaries on the rise in Hambleton and Richmondshire
House burglaries in parts of North Yorkshire have increased, prompting a crackdown by police.
Over the last week there has been a rise in the number of break-ins, in Hambleton and Richmondshire.
Some of the raids have been two-in-one burglaries, where thieves have broken in to steal keys to vehicles parked on the drive.
Supt Amanda Oliver said it was believed the crimes were being committed by thieves travelling into the area.
Supt Oliver, neighbourhood commander for Hambleton and Richmondshire, said patrols had been stepped up on main routes into the district, including the A1 and A19.
