Facebook tribute to Chris Donaghy after York taxi crash

Tributes have been paid to a man who died after he was hit by a taxi in York city centre.

Chris Donaghy, 24, died in hospital after he was trapped under the vehicle near Lendal Bridge on Saturday night.

A page on Facebook has been set up so friends and family can pay tribute to Mr Donaghy.

Messages on the page said Mr Donaghy had a "cheeky grin" and "cheeky sense of humour", and said he was "always there to put a smile on anyone's face".

Mr Donaghy's girlfriend and father are among those who have spoken of their grief online.

A 48-year-old woman from Edinburgh, who was injured in the incident, remains in a stable condition in hospital.

North Yorkshire Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward. Officers particularly want to speak to people who helped push the vehicle off the pair.

Nobody has been arrested in connection with the police investigation.
