York Knavesmire attack: Boy critically ill, two arrests
Two teenagers have been arrested after an attack in York left a 15-year-old boy critically ill in hospital.
The victim suffered serious head injuries when he was attacked as a fair on the Knavesmire was closing shortly after 22:00 BST on Saturday.
He was taken to York hospital and transferred to Leeds General Infirmary, where he was critically ill on Monday.
A 15-year-old boy arrested on Sunday remains in police custody. An 18-year-old man was arrested and bailed.
Det Ch Insp Keith Ruff, of North Yorkshire Police said: "This was a serious assault which has left a teenaged boy fighting for his life in hospital.
"We believe that the incident occurred around the time the fair was closing at around 10pm.
"There must have been people in the area at that time and I urge anyone who witnessed the assault or has heard anything about the circumstances to call the police."
