Driver killed in two-car collision on A19

A 21-year-old woman has died in a two-car collision in North Yorkshire.

Police said a Kia Sorrento 4x4 and a Ford Ka crashed on the A19 between Northallerton and Thirsk at about 17:50 BST on Monday.

The driver of the Ford Ka, a woman from Middlesbrough, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the driver of the other vehicle, a 50-year-old man from West Yorkshire, was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The road was closed for six hours while investigations were carried out.

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to contact them.
