Police team targets winter burglars in North Yorkshire
A team of police officers has been set up to deal with an expected rise in burglaries in North Yorkshire as darker evenings approach.
The team will target known burglary "hotspots" and keep an eye on persistent offenders who have recently been released from prison.
The move is part of Operation Haven, which started in May and aims to cut the number of burglaries.
The force claims domestic burglaries have so far reduced by 10% as a result.
Det Ch Insp Heather Pearson, who is leading the operation, said: "So far the operation has seen encouraging results with a reduction in offences and numerous results.
"The introduction of the dedicated team will help us focus even more on reducing these offences."
