North Yorkshire fire crews leave barn fire site

A large fire at a barn in North Yorkshire containing 5,000 straw bales has been put out.

Eight fire crews were called to Chariswood Farm Barn, near Ripon, at 17:57 GMT on Monday.

About 1,000 cattle, which were in the adjacent animal shed, were moved to safety and are thought to be unhurt.

The fire and rescue service said one crew had remained at the scene on Tuesday to protect other buildings but they had now stood down.
