Roadworks on A1(M) at Doncaster likely to cause delays

Delays and disruption are expected on a stretch of motorway in Doncaster as a resurfacing scheme to repair "serious wear and tear" gets under way.

Work on a 2.5 mile stretch of the A1(M) between junctions 34 and 35 starts on Friday and is due to last three weeks.

Highways officials said a contraflow would be in place from Friday night until 9 December, which is expected to cause 30 minute delays at peak times.

The contraflow will be lifted during the day on Fridays to ease congestion.

Tim Calvert, Highways Agency project manager, said: "Our message to drivers is an important one - plan ahead and allow more time for your journeys while this work is under way, particularly when the contraflow is operating."
