Police recover stolen army medals in York
Police have recovered a number of stolen army service medals from a property in York.
The six medals all date from the 1930s and have the name J Walsh engraved on them.
Officers said they were recovered from a property in the Acomb area of the city.
North Yorkshire Police have been trying to trace the owner of the six medals, which were issued in 1934, 1935 and 1936.
PC Andy Chapman, of Acomb Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: "These medals clearly belong to someone who has suffered the heartbreak of having them stolen and I would very much like for them to be returned.
"They look like Army service medals rather than war medals and I am hoping that someone will recognise them and come forward to claim them back."
