Sexual assault helpline launched in North Yorkshire
A new helpline has been set up to support victims of rape and sexual assault in North Yorkshire.
York charity, Independent Domestic Abuse Services (IDAS), has set up the confidential helpline to offer support six hours a week.
The free number will be run by specially-trained staff in North Yorkshire to offer advice and support.
Director of IDAS, Sarah Hill said: "I would urge anyone who needs support not to suffer in silence."
Mandy Alterson, of Survivors of Sexual Abuse in North Yorkshire, said: "The rape support line will increase the possibility of people in North Yorkshire getting the support and information they need when they most need it."
