Youngest York drink-driver is banned aged 16

A 16-year-old boy has become the youngest person to be convicted during this year's Christmas anti-drinking and driving campaign in North Yorkshire.

He was stopped while riding a moped on Askham Lane in York on 12 December.

He was disqualified from driving for 14 months and ordered to pay £85 costs at York Youth Court on Tuesday.

Since 1 December, North Yorkshire Police have conducted 1,794 breath tests and arrested 58 people. Of those, 31 have been charged.
