Thieves used a mechanical lifting machine to steal a cash dispenser from a North Yorkshire market town.

Police were called at about 03:00 GMT to the raid at the Co-operative local store in Park Street, Masham, north of Ripon.

The machine was used to knock out the cash machine from the wall and it was then taken away on a flat-backed trailer, according to police.

Two men were later arrested and are being questioned by police.
