Driver remanded over tent murder bid in North Yorkshire
A 24-year-old man has been remanded in custody charged with attempted murder after allegedly driving over a tent where teenagers were camping.
Benjamin Allerton, of Millgate, Selby, appeared before York magistrates accused of the attempted murders of a boy, 16, and girl aged 13.
They were camping in a field between York Road and the River Ouse on Sunday when they were struck by the vehicle.
Mr Allerton will appear at York Crown Court on 19 March.
The 16-year-old boy from Selby was seriously injured and is in a serious but stable condition in York District Hospital.
The girl received less serious injuries.
