Jobs go as Scarborough bakery firm collapses

More than 100 staff at a bakery firm in Scarborough have been made redundant, administrators have confirmed.

Bakery Products Ltd took over 11 of Woodhead the Bakers' shops when it went into administration in April 2011.

The P&A Partnership were appointed as administrators on 7 June but said they were unable to find a buyer for the firm.

A second bakery in Newcastle and two shops in Harrogate are still trading.

Andy Wood, from the P&A Partnership, said: "We have kept Bakery Products going all week in a bid to find a buyer for it as a going concern.

"Regrettably that has not been possible and we were left with no choice other than to close the bakery."
