A man has been charged with the murder of a delivery driver in a North Yorkshire market town.

Mohammed Khan, 36, from Luton, was in a van which crashed in Easingwold on Sunday. A murder inquiry started after it was found he had been stabbed.

North Yorkshire Police said a 26-year-old man had been charged with murder and was due to appear at Northallerton Magistrates' Court on Thursday.

Four other people arrested in connection with the death are on bail.

The three men aged 21, 23 and 25 and a woman aged 20 were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Det Ch Insp Heather Pearson said: "I would like to thank the people of Easingwold for their fantastic support during the investigation so far.

"However, I believe that there are still people within the community with information about Mr Khan's murder that they haven't shared with the police and I urge them to come forward as soon as possible."
