Man, 18, held over pedestrian's death in Stokesley

Police investigating a fatal road accident that left a pedestrian dead have arrested an 18-year-old man.

North Yorkshire Police said a silver Range Rover was being driven on North Road in Stokesley when it left the road and hit a 27-year-old man on Saturday.

A police spokesman said witnesses saw people inside the vehicle then run away. A 15-year-old was arrested nearby and remains in custody.

The 18-year-old was arrested by police officers on Sunday.

Detectives urged anyone who saw the car before the crash to come forward.
