Writing on the wall for York Art Gallery

As York Art Gallery begins a two year £7.6m refurbishment, it has invited the public to create their own art on its empty walls.

The gallery closed on 31 December to prepare for the major redevelopment but will hold an open day on Saturday as a final farewell.

Visitors will be able to paint and draw on the walls of the main gallery.
