Writing on the wall for York Art Gallery
The final event before an £8m renovation has taken place at York Art Gallery.
Visitors were allowed to draw and paint on the walls of the gallery and got to see plans for the redevelopment.
Since closing in December the building has been emptied of its arts collection and visitors were invited in for the last time until Easter 2015.
The new space will help the gallery show more ambitious exhibitions, the York Museums Trust said.
A newly built first floor South Gallery and a new gallery in the original Victorian roof space will become the home for the gallery's nationally important ceramic collections.
