Work is due to start this year on a multi-million pound rehabilitation centre for injured jockeys in Malton after it was approved by councillors.

The Injured Jockeys Fund (IJF) said the £3.5m clinic would be similar to the charity's existing centre in Berkshire.

It will offer physiotherapy, medical help and a gym to help speed recovery.

Lisa Hancock, IJF chief executive, said construction at the site near Malton's rugby club was expected to start in the autumn.
