Woman killed in North Yorkshire collision with tanker

A woman died when her car was involved in a collision with an oil tanker near York.

The 54-year-old, who has not been named, died after her black Rover 25 hit the tanker on Sherriff Hutton Road near Strensall at 09:10 BST.

The driver of the tanker was treated for shock by paramedics but did not require hospital treatment, North Yorkshire Police said.

The road was closed for more than five hours following the accident.
