Body of a man found in River Ouse at York

A man's body has been found in a river in North Yorkshire.

The body was discovered by a member of the public in the River Ouse in York just after 11:00 BST.

A North Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said the body had been found in the water between Bishopthorpe Road and Fulford Ings, to the south of the city.

The body has been recovered from the water and enquiries to establish the man's identity and how he came to be in the river are continuing, she said
