Ian Martin named as Skipton car park death man

A man who died from head injuries after he was found at the bottom of steps in a car park in Skipton has been named by police.

Ian Martin, 68, from Threshfield, near Grassington, was found by police officers in Gas Street car park at about 18:45 GMT on 9 January.

North Yorkshire Police said his death is not thought to be suspicious.

Anyone who saw Mr Martin before he was found has been asked to get in touch with North Yorkshire Police.

Detectives said it was known that Mr Martin had travelled on the number 72 bus from Threshfield to the main bus station at Skipton, where he arrived at about 18:25 GMT.

A police spokesman said Mr Martin was described as "very fit and healthy and looked young for his age".
