Leeds men charged over Knaresborough takeaway bomb hoax

Two men have been charged over a hoax bomb threat that brought a North Yorkshire town to a standstill.

Armed police responded to what they believed was an "immediate threat" and sealed off Knaresborough for four hours on 16 October 2013.

Police said a "malicious hoax call" was focused on a pizza takeaway in High Street.

The two men, aged 23 and 22, both from Leeds, are due to appear before Harrogate Magistrates' Court on 3 June.

The 23-year-old has been charged with three offences of communicating a bomb hoax, while the 22-year-old has been charged with perverting the course of justice and making a false statement to obtain insurance.
