Northallerton police station bomb alert: Man charged
A man has been charged with impersonating a policeman and making an explosive over a bomb alert at a North Yorkshire police station.
A "suspicious package" sparked the alert at Northallerton police station on Tuesday morning.
The army's bomb disposal unit was called from Catterick Garrison.
A 25-year-old Darlington man has been charged with making threats to kill, making an explosive and impersonating an officer.
The police station and two neighbouring buildings were evacuated and the road outside was closed before the package was deemed safe.
The accused man is due to appear at Harrogate Magistrates' Court on Thursday.
He has also been charged with possessing cannabis.
