North Yorkshire pilot in court over £5m cocaine haul

A pilot has appeared in court charged with trying to smuggle £5m worth of cocaine into North Yorkshire.

Andrew Wright, 51, from Barlow, near Selby, was arrested after 34 kilos of cocaine was found on a light aircraft at Breighton Aerodrome, near Selby.

The National Crime Agency said the seizure on Monday was "significant".

Mr Wright was remanded in custody by magistrates in Leeds and is due to appear at Leeds Crown Court on 3 December.
