Suspected explosives found at Barlow near Selby

A quantity of suspected explosive material has been found at a property in North Yorkshire.

Police said the material was discovered by a member of the public in an outbuilding at Railway Cottage, Barlow, near Selby at 09:00 BST.

A cordon was put in place and neighbouring properties were evacuated.

Officers said an Army bomb disposal unit had safely disposed of the material in a controlled explosion at 13:00 BST.
