A scheme to transform an abandoned golf course in North Yorkshire into a new community has been unveiled.

Flaxby Park Ltd has reached agreement to purchase the site of the former Flaxby Golf Course near Harrogate.

Skelwith Leisure which previously owned the site adjacent to the A1(M)/A59, went into liquidation in 2015.

The number of homes planned for the 278-acre site has not been confirmed but the company said it would "likely be over 1,000."
