Picton woman 'attacked by sheep rustlers'

A woman suffered a serious head injury after being assaulted with a plank of wood while trying to stop two sheep rustlers, paramedics have said.

The woman in her 40s, who owns the flock, was attacked at Picton, near Crathorne in North Yorkshire, Great North Air Ambulance said.

She was flown to James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough, and is said to be in a stable condition.

North Yorkshire Police said an assault had been reported.
