Woman dies after being hit by car in Rotherham

A woman has died after she was hit by a car.

South Yorkshire Police said the crash happened near Clifton Park in Rotherham at 16:40 BST on Saturday.

The silver Ford Focus was travelling along Doncaster Road towards the town centre when it hit the woman, who was believed to be crossing the road, police said.

A 51-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

The 52-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her family has been informed.

Officers have appealed for any witnesses to the crash, or anyone who may have seen the Ford Focus prior to the accident, to contact them.
