Selby crash: Man arrested after pedestrian killed on A19

A man was arrested after a pedestrian was hit and killed by a car in North Yorkshire.

A man in 40s was struck by a Vauxhall Corsa on the A19 near Brayton at 08:30 BST on Sunday.

Police said the pedestrian, from the Selby area, died at the scene. He is yet to be formally identified.

The 23-year-old driver of the car, from Selby, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and later released on police bail.
