The final funeral following the death of eight men in a car crash in Donegal on Sunday has taken place.

The funeral mass of James McEleney, 23, took place in Clonmany on Friday morning.

On Thursday, the funerals of Paul Doherty, Eamonn McDaid, Ciaran Sweeney and Damien McLaughlin took place. Hugh Friel, Mark McLaughlin and PJ McLaughlin were buried on Wednesday.

The men died when two cars crashed on the Buncrana to Clonmany road.

Seven of the men were in one car.

The driver of that car, a Volkswagen Passat, survived the crash and remains in serious condition in hospital.

Hugh Friel, 66, died as he drove home from bingo.

Traffic police said the black Passat saloon was believed to have collided with a white Renault before the driver lost control and ploughed into a red Toyota 200 metres away.
