Gunshot heard after east Belfast robbery

Police are investigating reports that a shot was fired after a robbery in east Belfast on Friday afternoon.

A driver making a delivery to a shop in the Clarawood area shortly after 1430 BST was confronted by a man with a handgun who had a scarf over his face.

The driver was made to lie in the back of his van while the robber removed bags containing cigarettes and passed them to an accomplice in a waiting car.

Witnesses said they heard a gunshot as the getaway car sped from the scene.

The robbers escaped in a silver car towards the Knock Road carriageway.

There are no reports of any injuries.
