Three charged after police chase in County Down

Three men have been charged following a police chase near Banbridge, County Down in the early hours of Wednesday.

A 23-year-old man and 25-year-old man have been charged with theft, criminal damage and assault on police.

A 20-year-old man has been charged with theft, criminal damage, assault on police, dangerous driving and failing to stop.

They will appear in Newry Magistrates Court in August.

A car failed to stop for police at the Castlevennon Road just after midnight and was pursued by police.

Officers stopped the car about an hour later in Loughinisland and three men in their 20s were arrested.

A stolen quad bike and a trailer recovered by police at Corbet Road are thought to be linked.

A police helicopter was also involved in the operation.
