Bookmaker robberies are 'linked'

There has been an armed robbery and an attempted armed robbery at two bookmakers in Belfast on Friday night.

Two men wearing helmets went into a shop in Winetavern Street at about 1930 BST. Staff were threatened with a knife, the pair set off an alarm and left empty handed.

Two men of the same description robbed a bookmakers in the Springfield Road at knifepoint at about 1950 BST.

They stole money from the till. Police believe the two incidents are linked.

In a seperate incident a masked man armed with a knife has robbed an off-licence in East Belfast.

He went into the shop on the Beersbridge Road at about 2200 BST on Friday night and threatened staff. He made off with cash.
