Middletown farmer threatened with sledgehammer

A farmer has been threatened by two men armed with a sledgehammer during an incident in Middletown, County Armagh, on Saturday night.

At about 2045 BST the man was driving into his farm at Drumhillery Road when he disturbed two men, one armed with a sledgehammer, trying to enter a shed.

The farmer was threatened with the sledgehammer before the men drove off in the white van they had arrived in.

Two men were arrested at a house outside Crossmaglen a short time later.

The van has been taken away for forensic examination.

A man in his 20s and a man in his 30s are being questioned by police.
