Pair in court over Middletown hammer threat

Two men are due to appear Newry magistrates court on Monday in connection with an incident in which a farmer was threatened with a hammer.

It is thought the farmer had disturbed an attempted burglary at the property at Drumhillery Road Middletown, County Armagh on Saturday.

The two men, aged 21 and 37 are also charged with dozens of offences related to incidents in the Dungannon, Armagh, and Newry areas in the last week.

The men were arrested in Crossmaglen.

The 21-year-old is charged with 33 offences including burglary, theft, criminal damage, and motoring offences.

The 37-year-old is charged with 29 offences including burglary, theft and road traffic offences.
